Health news/Children of all 8 municipalities of Bardia will get measles and rubella vaccine. Children aged 9 months to 5 years and children in the age group of 5 years to 15 years will be vaccinated through the vaccination campaign which will be conducted from 13th to 18th February.
Gokarn Giri, Head of Health Office, Bardia informed that the target is 31 thousand 449 people from 9 months to 5 years old, 87 thousand 78 people from 5 years to 15 years old, and a total of 18 thousand 527 children will be vaccinated. By vaccinating children, the aim is to increase immunity against measles-rubella disease and reduce the possibility of infection from diseases.
Similarly, he said, the aim is to identify the regular vaccination status of children under five years of age and facilitate the use of discounted regular vaccination doses. Vaccination will be given through vaccination centers at 484 locations across Bardia district.
Chief Giri informed that 968 health workers will be mobilized and 1452 volunteers will be deployed in the vaccination campaign. Measles and rubella vaccination campaign is being conducted simultaneously in all the 8 municipalities of Bardia, but it is said that it will be conducted in Ward No. 1 of Bansgarhi Municipality from 21st to 23rd of February.
