Health News/Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Narayankaji Shrestha has emphasized on the need for social transformation through meditation.
Speaking after the inauguration of the Lumbini International Meditation Day, which was the first day of the ‘Lumbini International Peace Festival’, which started today in Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha, Minister Shrestha said that meditation can transform the society and the nation along with it.
Minister Shrestha mentioned that Buddha demand, peace and meditation are complementary to each other and emphasized that Lumbini should be developed as a place of meditation along with the Buddha path.
Minister Shrestha said that physical and mental health can be strengthened through meditation, so it can be taken as a new dimension of spiritualism and urged everyone to participate in meditation.
He said that Nepal government is going to propose to the United Nations to celebrate April 5 as Lumbini International Meditation Day.Chen Song, the Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, said that on the International Meditation Day in Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha, Chinese Buddhist pilgrims will gather in Lumbini along with other Buddhist pilgrims.
Recalling that Nepali princess Bhrukuti and sculptor Araniko will be discussed in both Nepal and China, Ambassador Song said that it can be understood that there is a deep friendship between Nepal and China since ancient times.
Nepal took the proposal to the United Nations to celebrate the International Day of Meditation, mentioning that China would support it and requested to make Lumbini the capital of meditation.
Similarly, Sanuraja Shakya, member secretary of Lumbini Development Fund, said that through meditation, Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha, can be propagated.
The event was organized by Nepal Tourism Board, Chinese Embassy in Nepal, Lumbini Development Fund. The program aims to promote Lumbini as a world peace and religious cultural tourism destination and to expand the relationship between Nepal and China at the people level.
