Nepal Medical Association (NMA) is the first professional organization of Nepal established in 20th Falgun 2007 BS. Nepal has perceived many changes in the administrative structure of the nation after 2007 BS. This has direct effect on the Organogram of NMA .
Now with the changing context there is provision of provincial branches. While there are 16 NMA branches all over Nepal confusion prevails about which branch to lead the province . It’s not only about leading a province but being functionally active in co-ordination with all doctors residing in the province is a challenge .
IN developed countries such professional organization like NMA are more involved in research activities and journal publications . However in our context we focus the role of NMA to protect doctors , struggle for rights and security etc.
This is a sad reality that we are focusing less on upgrading our professional excellency and more over politics . Now its time for the provincial committes to involve in research activities , strengthening our knowledge , upgrading our quality care and publication of research journals at provincial level .
Besides this co-ordination with provincial government to timely upgrade the doctors’ facilities and creation of doctor friendly set up at work place is must. To strengthen the NMA voice, hope all doctors registered at NMA soon.
