Honorable Farewell to Health Volunteers in Palpa

Health news/Women’s health volunteers who have been active in maternal and child care for a long time have been bid farewell with respect. On Thursday, a program was organized and 11 health volunteers of the district were bid farewell with respect.

The volunteers who served for more than two decades and reached the age of 60 were evaluated and bid farewell with 70,000 cash. The head of the health office of Palpa said goodbye to the health volunteers working in the maternal and child health sector after 60 years of age. Rajendra Kumar Giri informed. He mentioned that in recent times, the government at all three levels evaluates the role of volunteers and sends them farewell with money.

Speaking at the farewell and honor program, the head of District Coordination Committee Palpa, Tankanath Khanal, said that the volunteers have provided invaluable support to the state by serving the women who have given birth in the rural areas.

He mentioned that even though it is a farewell, health professionals can share their experience for the benefit of the society. Sita Acharya, a health volunteer from Ringnerah, the former village of Farewell, said that they have helped to reduce the mortality rate of mothers and children and provided them with medical treatment. He said, “We have served for two to three decades because money is not a big thing. Even if we are no longer in the role, we will help when needed.”

Recently, even the local levels of Palpa have adopted a policy of farewelling health volunteers with money. Mohan Dhakal, head of the health branch of Purvkhola rural municipality, informed that most of the municipalities in the district have started paying farewell to the volunteers who are being dismissed due to age and other reasons. According to him, Purvkhola rural municipality has given 25,000 rupees to health volunteers.
